Creating a new statement by remaking what seems to be the norm and then transforming it to become something new. The intention behind this concept is to approach repair in a different form using rose petals as a material to dismantle and then reconfigure to create new life. Roses, in general, are bound to wither when not in contact with soil and water. The medium used to create this model: glue, marker. Materials unwanted toilet roll and rose petals. Began by configuring petals and then arranging them to form a new rose by using the toilet roll as the foundation.

2

Intention- To reveal and conceal whats fractured, can the mending create a new form if it was to be concealed?

Production-toilet roll and play-dough, Malleable vs non-malleable .

Outcomes- mending doesn't always mean to fix at times it means to innovate and creating new ways to showcase what was fragmented.

EARLY STAGES

Intention-Reconstruct the toilet paper rolls to give new form when fixed together.

Production- paper roll, tooth picks, markers

Techniques-approached by breaking a whole to create separated pieces that will allow me to reconfigure to take a new form

Intention & production- thread symbolises the long life and the toilet roll being the ephemeral part. Mending the fragmented pieces using thread to weave the pieces back together

Techniques- Explored a different way for mending for binding the two pieces, despite how hard it was to constantly put the needle through the toilet roll it was worth the outcome.

COLLABORATION

Intention & production- The concept behind this collaboration is to connect with the outside world, in this case the outside world has become my family home since I am no longer apart of that place I call home. Each of my family members were given an open brief as to how they chose to mend the toilet roll. The results were compelling, to see how they define mending to be.
